VHS STACK 1., 2021

Acrylic on canvas
80cm x 40cm
SOLD - this work is now held in a private collection

Winner of the Macability Award - Fisher’s Ghost Art Prize, 2021.

VHS 1., as the title suggests, was Oliver’s first VHS stack painting. The work is tall and thin, and depicts the spines of many stacked VHS tapes which were presented in Oliver’s studio at the time of creation, and curated specifically by the artist.

The work has been produced with thick layers of acrylic paint, with the lettering and images and the tapes sometimes spilling over into those surrounding it. There are a myriad of colours visible, but black yellow, red, blue and green and most obvious and predominant in the piece.
